Hello, my name is Matt and I am a professional guitar teacher based in Cheshunt. I offer one-to-one mobile and online lessons to students all over Hertfordshire and worldwide, helping them learn to play the guitar from the comfort of their own home.
I teach students of all ages and abilities from complete beginners to semi-professionals to rapidly improve their guitar playing in a short amount of time. Covering all musical styles and lead/rhythm techniques on the electric, acoustic and bass guitar, my lessons are student-focussed and tailored to your individual learning needs.
With many years experience as a professional guitar player and teacher, I'm proud to have mentored hundreds of students over thousands of guitar lessons to achieve happiness and fulfilment with their guitar playing.

My lessons are student focussed, together we can discover the music and guitar techniques that really drive you, and create a custom lesson plan tailored to your individual goals and learning needs. I cover a huge range of different musical styles in my lessons, from pop to rock, from blues to heavy metal, funk to R&B to jazz, electronic to reggae, soca and more on the electric, acoustic and bass guitar. Whether you want to learn to solo, strum chords, learn music theory, do grade exams or just play your favourite songs, I'd be delighted to help you reach your musical potential.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.

Since first picking up the guitar aged 8, I fell in love with the instrument and have never put it down since! I am a qualified and experienced teacher having undertaken many years of musical training, achieving GCSE Music, a Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Music performance and a First-Class BA Honours Degree in Popular Music.
Since graduating I have taught thousands guitar lessons to students of all ages and abilities in my own practice, for local music schools and the Northamptonshire Performing Arts Trust. In my career as a session guitarist, I have had the pleasure of performing live accross the world, recording or sharing the stage with an array of artists and bands such as Twister, Elliott Randall (Steely Dan), The Quireboys, Matt Peach, Wendy Martin, Victoria Leitner, The Leicester Symphony Orchestra, Janine, Mia and the Moon, Adam Slack (The Struts) and many more with my playing receiving national and international airplay on radio and local television.
Though I’m a teacher myself, I am always keen to learn and expand my knowledge of music and the guitar. This has led me to study under some of the most inspiring figures in the music business such as Joel Hoesktra (Whitesnake, Cher, Rock of Ages) Elliott Randall (Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, John Lennon) and Tony Platt (ACDC, Bob Marley, Paul McCartney). I am often inspired to pass on the knowledge and techniques I have learned from these mentors to my students on their own musical journeys.
I also welcome more advanced students to take my lessons.
Though I am a specialist in teaching complete beginner students of all ages to play the guitar, I have also had lots of experience working with more advanced guitarists, and have taught many students who are revisiting the guitar after several years away as a mentor on how to develop music theory knowledge, play more interesting lead solos with improvisation, develop stagecraft with a band, prepare for a university audition, or just get them inspired and loving the guitar again.
I understand what it takes to learn, that learning isn't the same for everyone and there's a variety of ways we can make learning easy and enjoyable for you.
I'm proud to have a 100% exam pass rate and I enjoy creating unique lesson plans for my students to save them valuable time and effort with the insights I have gained from my own experience. Together we can create a plan of lessons designed for rapid progress while learning the music you love.

My lessons are charged at £30 per hour for students of all ages.
I'm a mobile teacher which means that I will travel to your home for the lessons. I also offer online lessons as well.
I teach students of all ages how to play the guitar and will tailor the lessons to your age and ability level.
Weekly lessons are by far the best way to learn how to play the guitar and see quick results paired with plenty of practice in your own time.
Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged full price for the lesson.
